Which oil pump is better for a 350c.i. small block Chevy that might see a drag strip maybe three or four times a year, tops?
If an explanation can be provided, it would be greatly appreciated. I used to manage an auto shop (no engine work), so technical and mechanical descriptions are not lost on me. If it matters, the engine will have a Comp Cams bumpstick in it 270 deg. duration with a .480/.480 lift. That cam was a monster in my old Monte, and I'm satisfied enough to get another one. Thanks.
High volume is better because it keeps a larger quantity of oil running through the engine. High pressure tends to force the oil through to fast and doesn't let it do what it really should. Besides seals are far more prone to blowing out with the high pressure pumps.
