Body Work Driver

Body Work Driver
Question about possible body shop work.?

The driver door on my car will only open less than a foot, then it "locks", in order to open it, I have to apply a reasonable amount of pressure to open it and it makes a really really loud pop noise. On the outside of my car, the area between my door and the rest of the car there is almost like a little hole that is poking out, my friend thinks if I hammer that in this problem will go away.

But I don't think that is it, because I believe that hole is just my own fault from opening the door like that overtime. Some guy at firestone said I should take it to a body shop he thought something was unaligned.

My question is does anyone know how this happened? I didn't get in any accident it just started doing this one day. Also I was wondering how much it may cost to fix it and the best yet cheapest body shop to take it to?

Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

the door hinges have a pin that goes thru them and over time these pins wear. when you close the door slowly check to see if the door raises a little as it is being closed. if it does replace the door hinges.
this is pretty common for these hinges to wear if they don't get lubricated over time. lubricate them with a spray lithium grease.
