So, I just had a few questions and maybe a theory or two about the boost level in the Evo IX MR.
First off, I haven't been find an accurate answer for this yet, but what is the stock boost level of an IX MR? I've heard everything from 14-20 psi.
Secondly, let's say for example the stock boost happens to be around 18-20 psi, could you run higher boost on a completely stock motor and would it hold up without any problems occuring?
Thirdly, I have this theory, whether or not it's true or not, I'm not sure. Couldn't you hypothetically get a boost controller and lower the boost level to say 8-10psi for long travels to boost gas mileage?
This psi can change on weather conditions to get the best performance out of the car. You can up the boost, but the harder you run the engine, the more problems you can run into.
You could get a boost controller to lower the psi for better gas mileage, but you would be better just keeping your foot off the gas. The lower the throttle the lower the boost, that's how turbo cars can usually get good highway mileage, just keep your foot off the gas.
