lexus IS 350 price?
when IS 350 is equipped with some options, the price goes over 40,000. however 2007 acura TL type-S has alot more standard features like brembo brakes, rear view camera, navigation system, rear spoiler, etc, no option to add on cuz its loaded, and the price is 38,000 MSRP. i have to admit that IS is more luxurious than TL but is it really worth spending over 40,000 on IS 350 or is TL type-S a better choice?
The standard IS 350 is actually cheaper than the standard TL type-S, but, as you mentioned, if you want to add the same features that come standard on the TL (heated front seats with driver seat memory, rear parking assistance system, and navigation, among others), you'll have to shell out more money.
having said that, someone above me pointed out the difference in horsepower. 286hp on the TL, versus 306hp on the IS 350; in my opinion, this isn't that great of a disparity. i actually find it funny that the person above me thought comparing these two cars was ridiculous, and then turned right around and suggested comparing the 286hp TL with the 204hp IS 250. anyway, if you're willing to live with this minor difference, then yeah, I'd say the TL might be more bang for your buck. Toyota/Lexus's reliability is definitely top notch, but Honda/Acura's is right up there too. In addition, I have two friends who own TLs (one owns a 2006, the other a 2004), and they have no complaints whatsoever.
When it comes right down to it, I'd say test drive both of them and decide if you feel the difference in the Lexus (whether that difference is luxury, power, or design) is great enough to warrant paying more for it.
In terms of resale value, check the Pricing section in the Kelley Blue Book review for the TL type S. It says they expect the TL to hold its value as well as the IS, Infiniti G35, and BMW 3-Series.
One last thing I'll point out is that, if you're really that concerned about performance, and you want to be nitpicky, the TL is a front wheel drive vehicle, whereas the IS is a rear wheel driver. Front wheel drive tends to increase torque steering.
Good luck with your decision; I'm sure you'll be happy with either of these cars.
