1997 kawasaki Ninja 600 won't start?
OK, so here's what I did. Last season my bike sat up for about 8 months without being crunk or being prepped to sit for so long. When I did crank it, it ran like crap (stalling, backfiring, loss of power) So, I took the carburetor covers off and cleaned the inside with carb cleaner. The only part of the carburetor that I actually removed was the jets, which I soaked in carb cleaner. It did crank when I put it back together. But after about 10 minutes, it would not idle, it hat a lot of white smoke coming out of the tailpipes, and now I cant even get it to start. It will turn over but not crank. When I does crank, it immediately cuts off. What did i do wrong? Thank you
the carbs needs to be cleaned real good.
take them out, and clean them like you did, and also clean the idel quality screws at the back of the carbs ( closer to the motor side ) take them out counting how many turns they are open first, spray the holes with carb clean, and put them back, noting how many turns them must be turned.
also, make sure the floats are working properly. when cleaning them, add some gas or carb cleaner ( gas is cheaper that liquid carb cleaner) to the fuel rail, and see how the floats are working. might also ckeck the float lever on them too.
there are some good videos on youtube that might help as well.
make sure you clean the tank ( drain it, and re fill it with fresh fuel, and cycle the fuel selector valve as well.
and replace your fuel filter, and i recommend a new air filter.
hope that helps.
