Ok would a functional Ram Air hood give a more noticeable gain than a carbon fiber hood?
The Ram Air hood is made of fiber glass, so i don't know if the additional weight lost by using a carbon fiber hood would make up for the power gains by the ram air hood. By the way www.suncoastcreations.com has some really nice Ram Air hoods for many different vehicles.
So a carbon fiber hood is a waste of money(mainly to "theneels")? I thought stock hoods where usually made of steel not aluminum. Sorry I don't know much about this, thats why I'm asking.
What? You're comparing engine cooling to weight loss? Can't do that. Most (99.9%) carbon fiber hoods are wrapped fiberglass meaning they weigh more than the fiberglass hoods. Even then, the difference in weight (versus an aluminum hood) is less than 5 pounds in most cases...there won't be any performance increase from changing hoods. "Gains" form weight reduction don't exist, it's reclaimation...meaning it's already there based on your engine output.
You won't "gain" squat if your intake isn't converted to ram function. A ram air hood with no intake component reduces heatsink (loss of power) nothing else.
