i have a 95 monte carlo with a 3.1 engine and well it has a lil knock to it and i wanna have a back up engine for when it gets worse. soo will engine from a 94 cutlas with a 3.1 fit? its same engine but i no i had a pontiac and it was very strict on engines and computers and stuff. like monte carlo 3.8 fit my pontiac if it was certain years and just many interchange. i dont have a interchange list to this car so im asking if any one no if it will be a direct fit. i dont want any modifications or any trouble what so ever, i want a direct unbolt and bolt back to fit.
I've been in similar situations. The problems I ran into weren't with the actual engine. They were with electrical connections on the sensors. They change from year to year due to different manufactures making the same kind of sensors. If you find that it is a problem you can just get the sensor off of the old engine.
