have a 92 eclipse gst new rebuilt 7 bolt motor. only mods are walbro 255, 3" exhaust, k&n air filter, air can removed, cxracing upper and lower intercooler piping. problem is shortly after 5000 rpm the car hesitates and bogs down around 5600 i hear some popping noises kinda like a back fire and it wont rev past that. its been bugging the crap out of me for a month and a half. car was perfect for the first 200-300 miles after engine was rebuilt and around 400 miles it started getting slower the around 700 miles it got this problem. if anyone has and ideas that would be awesome.
do you have AFR gauge? you have to keep track of your air/fuel ratios, if you dont you could be leaning it out at higher rpm's and causing detination. i would do a compression check to see if maybe you burnt a valve or even your rings. also did you break your engine in properly? if not you might have messed up your cylinder walls, which would really suck. oh and the 7 bolt motors are known for crank walk, the 6 bolt motors out of the 1g is the better of the two.
