What temperature is too hot to run a dual PowerMac G5?
I have a 2.0 dual G5, no mods or anything done to the case, stock parts and everything. The machine is running hotter than normal, the U3 heatsink is registering 169°, CPU A & B are around 150°, CPU A & B Amb are running at 135°. I am currently staying in a very hot room, with the ceiling fan on, and I'm sure this is the culprit. The fans on my G5 are running very loudly and fast right now, blowing out hot air out of the case. How hot is too hot for my computer, and will it automatically shut off or warn me if it gets too hot?
It'll automatically shut-off. But those temps are dangerously high. It's going to do some damage to your computer unless you fix the problem.
