Doesn't it seem Congress is no longer a co-equal branch of government ?
The White House's extreme position will lead to a constitutional crisis where the executive branch refuses to follow the law. Congress may need to use its own inherent contempt powers, in which it would level the charges itself and hold a trial. - if Bush won't let the DOJ do its job.
Bush's stance endangers our 3 part system of government and the Constituton as well as the Republic.
Stuck: Did you ever go to college ? Or did you even graduate from high school? Just wondering.
Lady Shondra: Sometimes discretion is the better part of valor. It's OK if you don't.
Crabby: I hope you are correct.
Coragryph: I swear our Congress reminds me of the Christian Democrats and socialists in Germany - in 1914. Too many are ready to stand behind the Kiaser and his war and at what cost ? Lets see if inherent contempt has a chance at circumventing them.
David W: Care to elaborate ?
Yes, I agree with what you are saying. And I guess what really concerns me is that they say they are"Conservative" and that they believe in a strict interpretation of the Constitution as the founding fathers intended it. They then do everything they can to expand the powers of the Presidency beyond the Constitutional powers. They defy Congress in a way to make their Constitutional powers weak. Heck, Dick Cheney is a fourth branch of government all by himself.
They are also against abortion but they would volunteer to pull the switch on the electric chair, as they are almost universally pro death penalty.
They believe in limited Government, where the Government stays out of peoples every day lives. But they believe in warrant-less wiretapping of American Citizens.
I think that the American citizens have finally had it with the power hungry and inconsistent Republicans and I look forward to next years elections.
