im still in the thinking stage of getting a turbo, when i fabricate headers, i wanted to put the turbo around the part where the cat would have been. one hole if for the flange, the other for extra exhaust? whats the deal with how wastegates work? it limits flow into the turbo? where does extra go? in other words, where should the turbo be mounted in relation to the force of the exhaust, and where should excess turbo hole be? if i am thinking right....

A wastegate is for excess boost OUT of the turbo. Keeps compression from being too high. I'm not sure of your skill level but you might wanna rethink this. You don't just throw on a turbo. There are fuel adjustments to be made, timing issues and many other considerations.
