is mma good for street defense?
i get so much differ opinions... my krav teacher even sayd yes but not the best, its just a sport. but i beg to differ. ive used wrestling on evey single fight and it always works, ive been eye gouged to but when i get that mount im gonna win and always have, boxing angles blocking,if someone charges you get those double underhooks to get better conrtoll..against a street thug its not hard, they say going to the ground is suicide...what the heck lol.. im not talking about someone pulls a knife, im talking about a 1 on 1 fight. dont you think mma would just wipe the floors with those guys? i always have no prob, boxing and wrestling is all you need
the best thing is to not get into a fight of course... but what do u think about the question
MMA training is one of the best ways to train the foundational skills of fighting: punching, kicking, clinching, takedowns, ground work, and submissions. MMA sparring will keep your composite skills honest as you'll quickly find out if your striking stance leaves you vulnerable to takedowns, or if your guard game leaves you vulnerable to strikes, and so on. The fundamental skills of boxing, Muay Thai, wrestling, and BJJ provide an arsenal wide and deep enough to carry you through most bad situations. The activity-specific conditioning is the best out there for being able to engage in a fight and not "blow up" quickly.
However, on a strategic level, there are flaws. Most notably, there are many strategies in MMA that are time consuming and violate the first rule of self-defense strategy: always look for an escape. MMA training can (and in many cases should) be modified for street-specific situations.
