i have a 1990 valvo 740 turbo and the trans wont shift manualy or automaticly.(auto trans) All the plugs are connected, all the vaccum lines are connected, is full of fluid, and there are no fault codes. the car runs and drives great it just wont shift. Any ideas on what could be wrong and what i can check to make sure? I am a diesel mechanic so i do know my way around i just dont mess with auto trans much.
should see a kick down cable that runs from the trans to the engine if the cable is no good or the valve the cable operates stuck then it will give you this problem which means pan down and valve body down to correct it or the governor assembly on the output shaft is also stuck try the cable first
