Low/medium house water pressure...?
I want to safely adjust my water system to its maximum pressure output. I have a private well that is approximately 25 years old, a “Well-X-Trol Model #10p4C027-01 blue water tank and just replaced the square D pumptrol as well as the pressure gauge. My current readings are cut in 42 psi and cut out 62 psi.
A new water softener and a new Omni water filter system (with a cartridge) has recently been installed.
My water pressure is just ok but I want to max it out. As instructed by my plumber, I turned the water pump off and drained all the water in the pipes to relieve the pressure. I replaced the pressure gauge at this time and also checked the air pressure in my blue storage tank and added air to it to reach 38 psi.
My “problem” is that it seems that I have the same, if not a little lower water pressure after performing this adjustment. Perhaps the water filter system is robbing me of some pressure?
I’d appreciate any comments or suggestions. Thanks!
You probabl are losing a little pressure due to flow resistance through your filter.
40lbs is a good pressure in my opinion. I wouldn't go looking for more. If it seems you have low pressure elsewhere, have you checked your faucet aerators and stuff for blockages? I get clogs all the time and I'm on city water; if you're on a well you're even more likely to get the occasional bit of grit and stuff. It wouldn't be a problem now that you've got the filter, but how long did you go without the filter?
Don't forget to clean the screens in your washing machine's inlet hoses, too.
