How do I open my Garmin StreetPilot i3?
Hello,
I have a StreetPilot i3 and the mini-USB port and fallen into the device. I cannot update the unit nor use the power cable in the car as the mini-USB plug won't slide in far enough to make a suitable connection.
I noticed that the unit uses hex-head screws that look like they can be opened with an allan key, but I have tried with a few but none work. Is there a special tool I'm going to have to get?
Or, is there any shop I can go to that will do this for me? I am in Cardiff, UK.

Hi Bob,
I have tried a star-shaped allan key and the bolts won't turn. It's hard for the allan key to get any purchase on the bolt-head and I don't want to wear away the edges. I have tried different keys.
Has anyone successfully opened the StreetPiot i3? What toold did you use (and where can I get one!)?

Garmin doesn't want you messing with the insides of their stuff, so they make it difficult for the average consumer to get inside. Could the bolts take star shaped allen keys?
