Ok, i just got a short ram intake with heat shield installed on my ato civic ex, some tell me this is a normal sound, but I'm kind of weary. Now, im not talking about the obvious growl-like sound from sucking massive amounts of air in that i couldn't hear with the stock intake system...Im talking like a "hiss" sound--almost like the sound a turbo would make. And i know its coming from the intake cause thats where the sounds cleary is coming from.
It doesn't hapen when i first accelerate at low rpms, its when i get to about the 2500 point maybe and after it passes that point it stops (hiss stops). Is this normal, could there be a leak? Could somrthing have been installed incorrectly? All the hoses and everythin put into the intake are tight...and other than that hiss noise the car isn't running bad so im not sure if i should be worried or not.
Anyone else experience this after you had a short ram intake installed in your civic (or any car)??
don't worry, this is absolutely normal, all of my cars have done that with a short ram or cold air. On my current civic I hear it at about 3,500 to 4k rpm.
