I just bought a cat back exhaust for the car and iv a 4-1 stainless manifold already on it. Iv been told that if i put a de-cat pipe in it'll only get louder but iv also been told i'll get more power but will need to get it tuned. Can anyone help me??
It will free up power, but it definitely will make it louder too. You don't need to get it tuned though. For basic bolt-ons (intake, exhaust, & header), you usually don't need to tune a car. However, if you do tune the car, you will get more power out of those modifications. Personally, I wouldn't bother spending the extra money to get the car tuned, just for basic bolt-ons. Upgrading camshafts and putting in higher compression pistons, or adding forced inductions, is a different story. In those cases, getting the car tuned will be very beneficial for power as well as reliability.
