Have 1957 chevy with a 350 olds engine. Has carburetor, electonic ignition alternator?
also have a 4 prong ballast resitor. Need to know the wiring set up from the ignition to ballast resistor with 4 prongs to alternator and starter. Has charging, temp, and oil gauges separate from originals
Throw that resistor away. You will need a good steady supply of 12dcv for the electronic ignition to work properly so you don't need a resistor there. Also the alternator needs a 12v supply so, not needed there either. If the gages that are in the car are 12v then the resistor is not needed there either.Manufactures used resistors on point ignitions dropping the voltage to 6v after the engine was started . A single hot wire from the ignition side of the switch to the + side of the cap for your distributor is all that is needed to make the distributor work wiring the alternator to charge gets a little more technical but is also fairly simple to do.Looking at the back side of the alternator you will see a terminal and a place for a 2wire plug. Run a 12v + source to the terminal and jump to the prong closest to the terminal at the plug.buy a relay run a 12 v+ to #30 of the relay, run a wire from #87 to the other prong of the alternator, run an ignition wire from the switch to #85 and ground #86. this will prevent the battery from discharging overnight.good luck
