Intake Piping From
Engine air intake...?

My friend thinks it's a good idea to tear out the factory engineered air intake from his car and replace it with random plastic pipes from the Home Depot... I think he's stupid! What do you think??
LOL I never said he's my boyfriend... I don't date ricers, he's actually my boyfriend's friend.

Your friend is nuts. The factory air intake have sensors and whatnot that ensures the engine gets enough air without any vortices that prevents air from getting in properly. Random piping can't do that.

Vortices CAN form in air intakes. My Ford Contour V6 used to "hum" when I push the throttle. This humming can get really bad and stall my engine. I had to install a custom piece of plastic from Ford which revised the airbox to disrupt this vortex to solve this stalling problem.
