What is the bolt on the side of my Megan Stainless steel header for?
Basically, I bought a Header for my Acura Integra GS (1990). I took the old header off and noticed a plug going into the side of it... I compared the new header with that one and noticed the new one also had the same size screw hole where that could be put in, but it was bolted shut so.... I do not know whether or not this plug is important. Do I need to plug that into the new one? Is there a reason the new one has a bolt in it? I ask if it should have a bolt in it because if I was meant to put the plug in it why would it be bolted shut? Almost as if it's not important...
Not positive, but sounds like it could be the hole for the oxygen sensor, which would be VERY important. Maybe they cap it shut just for shipping?
See pic below.. Usually the oxygen sensor goes in the collector (piece on the left). I am not used to seeing holes in the header itself, like on the right.. Take it to a performance shop and ask them to make sure.
