I'm building a Jeep and I put in a sbc 350 crate motor. I need to buy all new brackets and pulleys for the front of the motor. I'm looking at serpentine kits and factory replacements but I don't know whether I need a short pump kit or a long pump kit? Does it matter?
Depeds on the water pump your using. If you are running a short pump (pre 1968) or a long pump (post '68)
The brackets/pullies must match the lenght/style water pump your using.
If you try to use brackets for long pump setup on a short pump all your acc. will stock out past the water pump pully and belts will not line up
Now you can use a short pump on a newer engine, and alot of guys do go with the short pumps on swaps like that to give more room for fan/rad clearance
