Do I need a Router Adapterw Linksys router model no. WRT55AG?
I'm being told that I need an adapter for my Linksys router does anyone know if this is true, or not? When I purchase the router from Dell.com I was not informed I needed anything other than the router. My problem is that when I follow the instruction that came with the router & unplug the cable from the modem to connect it to the router my internet service goes out. When I shut-down the computer and connect the router cable to the computer I cannot access the internet. Whew, this router thang is driving me nuts! Would someone please help get this mess straighten out. I've tried numerous times to contact Linksys by phone, but the line is always busy! Any, and all advice, suggestion, and recommendation is needed ASAP.

may be the mentioned adapter is the power adapter of the WRT55AG, and of course you need one. without it you are not able to power the WRT55AG. and one must be in your package, and if not, you must ask your dealer to provide one. if you check the package content list you will know why the dealer must do it, free of charge.
as i know WRT55AG doesn't have a DSL modem, so if you have a DSL modem, as i understand from your question, you must be sure that your DSL modem has an ethernet output, so that you may plug it into Internet jack of the WRT55AG.
moreover you must configure your DSL modem as a bidge, then have the WRT55AG to accept an IP through a DHCP from your provider, or to set the correct IP from the provider.
but if the DSL modem is configured as the gateway, so you must configure the WRT55AG to act as a router, not as a gateway, and arrange the network segments, i mean the IP addresses, so that you have a proper routable network.
