is a front mount intercooler street legal on a car factory equiped with a top mount? does it need carb approva?
i own a mazdaspeed 3 and it come with a top mount intercooler. now i am looking at kits like cobbs fmic and wanted to know the legality of a fmic in cali? is it only legal to get a upgrade if 1. its a direct replacement and 2. has carb approval? thanks all.
it shouldn't be a problem. all an intercooler does is cool the air from the turbo before it goes back into the intake. there are no chemicals, or emissions from getting a front mount intercooler. besides, if your car already has an intercooler, then it is just an oem replacement, just relocated, right?
