I want to race motorcycles what are my chances? What should I prepare for?
Ok so im 5'9 170lbs, 19 years old I live in miami florida. I just got enough time between work and school where I can have a hobby. Ive been wanting a gsxr or any modern 600 streetbike really. I dont plan on going pro or anything just maybe train a bit at a racing school and race at some ama an ccs events for amateurs to win a couple of trophies and just have fun really. I live pretty close to the homestead speedway and have been to moroso a bunch of times to watch drag races.Should i go with a 06+ gsxr or an older one (04-5) everyone tells me to get an older one so i can save money bc it will most likely fall since it is my 1st bike. What do you think? Will a 04-5 600 bike be good enough to race? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Hope you're loaded with cash bro. I used to track my bike up until a couple of years ago, and I will tell you this..... Just to go out and ride on the track for 1 day on the weekend will cost you 1500-2000 bucks, and thats just tires, gas, entrance fees, and service fees for the bike. Thats not counting any prep for the bike, like wiring it down and race plastics, leathers, or any other track needs like tire changes while you're there, or food....its not cheap, so be prepared. You can waste a whole paycheck (sometimes two checks) on 1 day of track time, so be ready for the wallet to lose some weight.
