If the only mods to the Civic are a cold air intake (which doesn't help much and may even hurt performance) and a cat-back exhaust (which can hurt low rpm torque, which this engine already lacks) then the tiny 1.6l four doesn't stand a chance against a 2003 Mustang GT. The GT has a 4.6l V-8 with no cat, exhaust and drag radials (good traction off the line).
These two cars aren't even in the same category! If you modify the Civic, then it may put up a good race. You can actually get the Civic to beat the Mustang, but you're gonna have to put $10K into engine mods.
Again, no contest on this one.
