hi i have a 01 impreza wrx recently the engine management light come on a friend check it over on a machine and he said it is running rich it's eating tons of fuel any idea's. it has a staight through pipe and a air induction kit on it i'm looking to get it on a rolling road can anyone recommend anywhere in newcastle upon tyne or surrounding areas

Hmmm. Let us start with the"air induction kit". Is it by chance a filter that needs to be oiled?
Many times the oil mist, very fine, gets sucked through to the very nearby mass air flow sensor and coats it with a film of oil. So it does not read the incoming air as it should and triggers a richer mixture at all times, and there goes the fuel mileage.
And then there is the "straight through pipe". No primary or secondary oxygen sensors? And if someone did bother to put the sensors back in the straight through system they will not read right.
Have someone read the engine management light for codes, and start there. I have seen this before more than once, and usually results in backtracking and reinstalling the systems that please the sensors and make everything work in harmony once again. Less noise but better performance overall.
