im looking at a downpipe that also replaces the cat. for my 02 rsx-s. what hp numbers am i to expect, will the car sound different, and is it worth the money? oh, and is a down pipe any good with stock headers? i really dont plan on spending much like on race headers because i plan on going turbo later on.
thanx, i have had an AEM V2 intake for over a year and it has a great sound and did a nice little gain. but then maybe ill hold off till the turbo, u made a good point.
I would guess your going to gain, maybe 2 or 3 hp. The downpipe will give you better flow out, but your stock headers are still limiting your flow. it would be like blowing into a straw and then putting a snorkel after. The snorkel doesn't matter because your still blowing through a straw. It will however make a bigger difference once you get your turbo and new headers. I wouldn't bother with it until you do everything else.
air flow in an engine is 2 parts (as you know) air going in, and air going out. If you upgrade one, you need to upgrade the other. They work together. Alot of people only upgrade their exhaust and not the intake. this helps a little but your not upgrading the system as a hole so your never getting the complete potential of your parts.
