The AC in my 96 caprice is not as cold as I would like for it to be and I've been told there is a very slow leak around the compressor. But it is still working and holding freon. I saw these do it yourself freon kits at walmart (r134a) for around $15 or $20. they come complete with freon and the filler hose and even have a little pressure gauge. Are these safe for a non-mechanic like me to use? They also say they seal leaks and add oil. Will this help my slow leak or is it a gimmick. If I keep an eye on the pressure and not let it get to high - is there a possibility that I could damage my system? is it worth it to save $50 or $60 - money's tight right now.
The kits are ok but follow the directions carefully because if you hook up to the wrong side of the compresor you could be injured
