Pucks Late Model

Pucks Late Model
Assuming the rocket engine exerts a constant total horizontal force find the components of the force?

To model a spacecraft, a toy rocket engine is securely fastened to a large puck, which can glide with negligible friction over a horizontal surface, taken as the xy plane. The 7.00 kg puck has a velocity of 9.00 m/s at one instant. Eight seconds later, its velocity is to be (4.00 , 9.00 ) m/s

To solve this we need to know the direction of the initial velocity. If we assume it is in the x direction then since the final velocity in the x is less then the rocket was thrusting backwards ..

Please re-post with the direction of the initial velocity
