Has anyone else experienced this? I had the pump replaced 2 years ago. When the pump broke off the engine block, it caused substantial collateral damage. The mounting tabs are still bolted to the engine block. Do you think the manufacturer should pay for the repairs? The shop manager said he has never seen anything like it before, and he is trying to contact the manufacturer to do the repairs. I would think the serpentine belt would break before it tore the pump away from the engine. I ended up with a dented hood, shredded fan and fan shroud, punctured radiator, several cut hoses, and a destroyed water pump. Any input from the experts?

Unfortunately... I doubt anyone is necessarily responsible for this. It's been 2 years since last replacement, and the vehicle is 5 years old. I would have to chalk this up to just a freak occurrence... though I know it sucks!
