make my mustang gt better?
ok, i have a 2004 mustang gt, and i want to make it louder and have more hp. i have BBK shorty headers, high flow cats, straight pipes and flowmaster super 40 racing mufflers (pipes are 2.25) also, i have a K&N cold air intake, a predator programmer with a diablo tune in there, and a racing suspension. i just want to make it faster and louder for around $2k. any advice??
ok... i have gotten some good ideas on hp, but should i put in an x pipe or an h pipe, or would that take away from sound, plus, im thinking about cutting my cats off completely and making my pipes 3inches
The flowmasters are chambered exhaust and therefore you should generally go with an h-pipe. X-pipe's are generally thought to go better with straight-through style cat-backs. I'm not exactly a car expert, but most people will tell you this. Also, I love the sound of my flow masters, but they certainly arent the loudest. SLP's or Borla's are much, much louder.
4.10's will give you better acceleration, sure, but it might be a bit much for a daily driver (if your car is in fact a daily driver.) You'll have a harder time with traction management, your not going to do wonders for your gas mileage, and 1st gear is going to be almost non-existent. If its gears you want, I recommend 3.73's or 3.76's. If its just a track car, by all means go for the 4.10's.
Like everyone else said, underdrive pulleys (the ones that dont piggy-back) and a throttle body sounds like the next logical choice.
