F1 turning specs (Auto Racing Sports Formula 1)?
I have my camber at -6 degrees
i have my toe out at 2 degrees FRONT
i have camber at +2 degrees
i have no toe on REAR
I have super responsive turning and i can turn on a dime but it throws my ass end out almost instantly. However if i am on the accellerator than i cannot turn at all and i just keep going straight . How do i fix this. I can be turning all the way one way and still going straight but as soon as i let off the gas my tires turn me so sharp that my back end spins out. What specs do I change on my car?
of course im not in a real car if i was they would have this figured out haha. this is on a simulator
Perhaps you could get more specialized advice from your tire supplier, or from F1 chassis tuning books, but my guess is that all of your settings are excessive. It is therefore almost impossible to isolate a separate reason for each symptom.
A thought:
Perhaps you should simply square everything as a baseline. Then try:
Front:
1. 1/8 inch of toe-out
2. 1-2 degrees of negative camber
Rear:
1. (my opinion): no positive camber either front or rear. If you ran exclusively on an oval, then either zero camber or a degree of two of positive might be advisable
2. zero toe sounds OK.
Also you haven't mentioned other important factors, such as:
1. is the car:
a. square
b. sufficiently rigid
2. what are your tire pressures
3. what is your tire compound
4. do you use a roll bar, which affects the roll center
5. do you have a tire temperature device
6. are you documenting each change you make and the results
7. have the tires warmed to operating temperature when the problems occur
8. are you using the proper cornering techique (and found your best line)
9. is your cam operating in the correct range
10. is your rear gear ratio correct
11. have you checked your cross-weights
12. are you using the correct shocks
13. you mention nothing about caster settings.
14. you driving style must be extremely smooth.
Hope this helps.
Read, ask questions, observe, keep detailed notes, change only a single setting at a time.
