dodge neon sohc turbo project?
so as the title goes its a 95 dodge neon sohc. im having huge troubles with fuel. i have read that i can put an in line high pressure pump about half way down from the tank then have that line to the rising rate fuel pressure regulator then to the fuel rail back to the tank. it would go like this.......... (tank-in line pump-rrfpr-rail-tank) is that fine? i dont plan on running much boost until i know how much the engine can handle. only 4 psi for now thanks.
how will i get it to work right?
im going to use the missing link (riser) for the sensor. i saw the spool boy page and i think the rrfpr when set right will raise the fuel pressure under boost. so set it up (canister,inline filter,fuel rail,rrfpr,return)?????? does that sound better?
You have the right idea. Since neons don't have a return line, it makes an adjustable FPR useless.
Providing increased fuel without a return line requires larger injectors then needed, then fuel trimmed using something like Megasquirts that can also control a MAP sensor.
With the return line, you can run closer to needed size injector. Then fine tune the fuel with the adjustable FPR and fuel computer. Alot easier to tune this way. Find the base fuel pressure needed, then fine tune with a computer. Makes more power and less fuel wasted.
You need to visit the Neons.org, doing a search on the "spoolboy mod". There are a few threads on modifying the fuel pump housing to accept a return line. I would ditch the idea of an inline pump and use a 255 Walbro pump. Its a cleaner install with less parts to go wrong.
The N/A 2.0s can handle roughly 8lbs. Its good you are keeping it less, as you sort your car.
Now, the big question. What are you using to trick the MAP sensor so it doesn't see boost?
