2002 ford explorer problems maybe ring and pinion?
It does fine when I first start driving when it's cold outside. It's asymptomatic for the first 5 minutes.
I just had the two front wheel bearing hub assemblies replaced thinking that was the problem, but obviously not the problem. When driving at *slow speeds after several minutes of normal driving, (*parking lots, driving through the neighborhood, etc.) roaring noises come out from the rear part of the car and it shakes/vibrates horribly when I press the gas while turning the steering wheel. It's really bad after long trips on the freeway.
I don't know what to do. It's getting so bad that I just had to park it and drive my father's truck because it's getting to the point where I feel that it's unsafe to drive.
Do you know how much it may cost to fix this? I don't know what to do. Please help.
if the rear end is the problem then you can pick one up at a salvage yard they have records on these parts showing the miles on it and also a warranty for about half the cost that you would pay someone to change out the pinion and ring, i have been through this same problem a hundred times. also did you have the drive shaft and u-joints checked out, that may be the problem just saying.
