What does the number for gear ratio mean (meaning higher number does what to driving, etc)?
What would be a decent range for gear ratio to have in a truck for street racing and keeping mpg for highway driving?
Also what is the stock gear ratio for my truck?
the gear ratio is the number of turns the drive shaft has to turn to get the wheels to turn 360 degrees. The higher the number, the better acceleration will be, but the top speed will be lower. If you get a lower number the acceleration will be worse, but top speed will be higher. I don't know what gear ratio you currently have, but usually anywhere between 3.5:1 to 4.25:1 is best. If you can find out the different gear ratios of your transmission, then you can calculate your top speed in each gear.
