99 explorer with an auto trans(wife's truck) the other day, she told me something about the rpm at highway speeds, sometimes being a little high.I drove it and noticed maybe every 20 or 30 miles, the rpm might increase 500 to 750. I would stop, shut it off, restart and it appeared to be fine. I asked on the internet and what I got back was a faulty O/D solenoid and or mounting bracket. Will it hurt to drive it locally , maybe even without the O/D on providing RPM's are watched. Thanks for your input
Check out www.explorerforum.com they will give you a lot more helpful hints as well. If the OD light starts flashing get it looked at right away the transmission is probably going to need looked at.
