Are the number of splines in a 2 wheel drive 5 lug rear end the same as the 6 lug 4 wheel drive rear end ? Can the axles be swapped from one to the other without any problems if the year and gear ratio are the same?
you just asked a question without any needed info. go find out what rear end you have Chevy has two, and what size. even after all that you have to measure the brake plate to plate distance. So even if you have two 8 bolt spicer rear ends it may not work. On some Chevy's they use clips to hold the rear end in and on others they are bolted.Measure and look. If they are both the same bolt # the same plate to plate distance and the axle is held in the same way it will probably work. Some time to pull the axle you have to yank really "F" ing hard. most times it is just a little tap with a BFH
GM is kinda funny it does not always make a differance if the axle is a 4,5, or 6, lug brake drum
