YARDMAN RIDE ON MOWER DRIVE PROBLEM UPDATE?

I have since discovered the variable speed pulley shaft and bearings is dirty and needs to be dismantled and the shaft needs to be cleaned, polished and a light coating of lubricant applied to the shaft.
I have not yet gotten to the machine to do the job required due to snow, the bitter cold and, as soon as I have the weather (warmth always helps a job further along, eh), I will finish the required work. Then I will post a comment on here. Also, I noticed where the large tension spring attaches to the chassis (rear back plate) the back plate has started to come away from the side and will need to be welded and a stiff angle bracket welded to reinforce the back plate and accommodate the heavy tension spring to the final drive belt.

I have been a 'rider' mower user for many years and, with the exception of the '...large tension spring... back plate... come away...' issue, more than once have been down that same road you're now traveling.
I hate severe cold weather. If I had it my way -- NO winter or summer, only spring and fall!
