Would installing cobb stage 2 on my 2007 Subaru Sti Damage anything even on the longrun?
The sti that i have has a turbo xs downpipe (my dad says its catted), with a midpipe, and a B&B Exhaust. I also have a Spt intake. On the cobb website it says you should add some things if you have a catless turbo back exhaust but i dont think i qualify as a catless exhaust system. My dad says one of the cats are off but the downpipe has cats on it. Help me out here. I dont want to damage my new STi.
Im also open for advice because i just got a cobb accessport V2. Thanx
A re flash is very important if you are running an aftermarket down pipe, catted or not. You are running the risk right now of over boosting and blowing your motor. So to answer your question, there is less of a chance of damaging your motor by re flashing then running the way you are now. Even the off the shelf maps provided by Cobb or are very conservative and safe to run for long periods of time so don't worry. You may not get as much power but it's plenty reliable. And just to let you know, you switched out a very efficient factory cold air intake system for a unit that sucks hot air from the engine bay and does nothing for performance regardless of what SPT claims. I would put the stock unit back in with a washable drop in filter and sell the SPT intake if I were you.
