I have a 1999 Pontiac grandprix GTP (has a supercharger) The supercharger has been very quiet up until about 6 months ago and now whines. It increases in frequency and loudness as the RPMs go up but is more noticeable around town than on the highway.I have replaced the drive belts and idler pulley but it still is the same. The supercharger is working fine otherwise and give me plenty of power.
These superchargers have an oil reservoir. Not too many lube shops even know they have or how or where to check them. There is a removeable plug near the pulley to check the level.
I suspect if the whine is there it may be too late for it though. If the bearing had a lack of lubrication you will need repair the SC.
