Turbo Charger of Super Charger?
I have a 1996 Chevy Impala SS, and originally i was going to buy a supercharger kit, but i had a hard time finding one that fits my car, and i also saw an Impala on the internet running with a turbo charger....which one is better for my car, i know the turbo charger has that lag and it gives the boost at high revs and the SC gives boost a low revs. i also realize that the turbo charger takes up more room..... what is ur opinion, i really want to put some horsepower into my car, but i also dont want to spend like 8,000 alone on a kit.. also which one will give me better acceleration???
ok well i have decided to go with the turbo, where can i get a turbo kit thats not gonna cost alot online???
Well for that price you could drop in a much more powerful crate engine and still get as good mpg.
the supercharger is always running so it will have better acceleration but a stock engine cant handle much more than 5-6 lbs of boost which will probly give u 45-65 hp. A turbo will be easier on gas if you keep the rpms low but costs more money to install.
I would go with the supercharger if the impala was my secondary vehicle and just used for playing but if it was a daily driver i would say go for the turbo
