I'm active duty af but I'm plannin on switching to national guard this April. I have a few questions however. Do you still get paid bah and bas? Can I still keep my GI bill? If I choose a far away base will it be covered as a tdy? And will I still qualify for Ta?
if you are going air national guard., it's similar to reserve.
Q1: if you are deployed or put on active duty you would receive BAH and BAS. for instance, deployment. you have to be on active orders for more then 30 days to be eligible for such benefits.
Q2&3: your GI bill will be the same. what your original contract says is what you will still be eligible for. and i'd say your TA is probably the same. but you should speak with your guard commander or the superior over GI bill etc in your home unit.
