1999 Subaru Impreza 2.0 wrx turbo loss of water coolant after short drive it evaporates or goes?
HI wondering if anyone can help with info after a short journey I check the water when the vehicle has cooled down and there will be lost water, approx half the water from the expansion tank.
The temperature meter on the dashboard stays normal and I cant seem to detect any leaks
I have changed the thermostat to no avail.
When I drained the water there was a lot of orangey water mixture indicating corrosion or rust in the system, however I have flushed the system many times but still loses water. The water has cleaned up. There doesnt deem to a trail or drips of water on the road surface, could it be evaporating.
Due to this fault I dont drive the car worried it might all go and damage the engine.
Any info please.
it is possible you have a head gasket problem and the coolant is probably going out the tailpipe, if you lose coolant every time you drive, you are correct, it is going somewhere, At this point it is probably a small leak, but unfortunatly they tend to get bigger. a shop is going to do a pressure test of the system, but once they do this, if there is a head gasket leak it will push coolant into which cylinder is leaking, and you will have to have the top of the engine taken apart to fix the head gasket. I think your next step is a shop you trust. good luck
