Is there a sound difference between gutting the cat or a straight pipe?
I have a 97 blazer and im getting the P0420 code and I dont have the money to replace the cat or to gamble away money at changing or getting a diagnostics on all 4 of the o2 sensors. So Im buying a oxygen simulator for the rear o2 sensor so i don't have to worry about the CEL anymore but im just wondering when I do this which one will sound better or worse a straight pipe (eliminating the cat all together) ether clamped on or welded on if i can afford it or just unbolting the cat and smashing the insides out with a bar and bolting it back on and will that effect air flow? I also dont have the emissions test in my state.
You may as well delete it, just dont get caught, every state has emissions laws for cars as new as yours. But since they dont test you'll be alright unless someone looks under your car, like a mechanic or a cop.
