Things like headers, cat backs, x-pipes, throttle bodies, programmers, cold air intakes, and even intake manifolds.
If they are anything like the 2001 to 2004 4.6 engine they will respond real well. I had a 2001 that I put some basic stuff like a timing adjuster, off road X Pipe, cold air kit and phenolic spacer and it ran like a raped ape. The trick with the modular motors is to get them to breath better, intake and exhaust. If you have one, start w/ a good cold air kit. I used a Densecharger from DeMolet on my '01. Get a good X pipe to replace the stock H-Pipe. You can stick w/ one with catalytic's or get an off road pipe w/ no cats. I used an off road pipe and just swapped it when I had to smog it (I'm in California). The offroad pipe will bring more power the the one w/ the cats but it's your choice. Headers are a pain to install on these motors but they really help the motor breathe. The Mustangs could also really benefit from some rear gears as well. Reason being is that the power band seems to be higher w/ the modular motor as opposed to the 5.0 push rod motor so the quicker in the power band the better. Check out some of the sites listed below.
