i can figure out the loud noise comming from my 81' non turbo. i changed filters, new motor mounts, no rack damper on non turbo, checked valve clearances, timing chain ok. last thing i wanted to check was the injector noselles, but dont want to spend the money on new one's if not needed. i cracked open each injector line to starver a cylender at a time, and did not seem to identifiy a problem? help please
Not much to go on. Does the noise go away with higher RPM's? If so then it may be injectors. The older diesel motors are tough but the will have problems have you considered its a rod knock? How many miles do you have on it? If it's a high mileage car the wrist pins can wear out and you get some noise. Good luck.
